Before you buy a corgi, think it over carefully. If you are a person without imagination, sensitivity and you lack sense
of humour, if you are quarrelsome type without patience (corgis don’t get along with scream), if you want your dog to be
an obedience master and live in a coop - don’t buy a corgi!
From my experience I know, it’s better to have well trained dog than a completely disobedient, which does whatever comes to its mind (and corgis do not lack fantasy!), so it’s better to train your dog and if you don’t have a proper experience - go to dog obedience course. Such course is definitely not an unnecessary expense, as not only the dog learns, but also you learn how to deal with your pet. You shouldn’t expect your corgi to be fully obedient, because it just doesn’t lie in their nature. Young corgis may bring some troubles, however after getting adult they become more staid and obedient.

- Corgis are social family dogs. They love to be next to their owner: under a desk laying in his legs; under a kitchen table, waiting for some good food to drop, on a sofa or even in his bed, especially on a pillow. Pembroke corgis like to be visited, and also to be guests. They are always ready for group walks.
- Corgi is an active dog. Even the older it gets, the less activity it needs, the young dog needs to get rid of its energy, as full of energy puppy can make some serious damage to the surroundings. Letting your dog walk itself in the backyard cannot play a role of a proper walk and play.
- Corgi is an intelligent dog, what means, if you don’t teach it what you want it to now, it will learn on its own. Training a corgi is not a special challenge, however the owner needs to have some basic knowledge about dog behaviour and of course need to work with their dog. Some books may help. The best idea is to train your dog 5 - 10 minutes several times daily - this way you won’t get irritated that your dog is completely unteachable. Don’t forget about rewards even if the command was done with delay and your help. Dog trains during every day walks - a bit of fetching, rest, few commands (lay down, sit, come here, etc.), some titbits and again play with a ball.
